Does "Speed Dating" only work in the movies?

So I have watched hundreds of movies where, The young, cute, single girl goes speed dating, and it always seem to work out for her. She meets the most amazing men, good looking, good personality, and money is always a plus. So when I got a invite to a young adults speed dating night, I could only image the bitter sweet sound of saying "I do". My older sister Carrie, my best friend Melanie, my cousin Kimberly, and Myself, got completely dolled up, in hopes to meet our "Mr. Right".

After Driving 20 minutes up Sundance Canyon, You can only imagine the looks on our faces, when we pulled into a parking lot that was jammed packed with mini-vans, and compact cars. Trying to be positive about it, we parked my full size F-250 (the only one there), and decided to watch a few people go in, while we waited for Carrie to arrive. Needless to say the handful of people we watched didn't get me excited at all about going in, at all! After I could bare sitting in my truck no longer, we spotted a good looking fella standing outside, with no one to talk to. We all jumped at the chance to talk to him, As we all pilled out of the truck, and started to get closer to the bait, that had lured us in. We realized he wasn't our "Mr. Right" One of those, looks great for a distances, but a mess up close kinda thing. So there we were, stading in the middle of a hundrend singles. After making a few rounds of the area, we decided to take a seat on the couch and see if anyone approched us. Thats when I deiced it was a tie between the older gentlemen, that looked around 65, 5'2, and completely bald. And the one and only guy under 35, that was wearing shorts, plaid shirt, and Suspenders. We all tried so hard to be positive about it, but there was just no saving this event. We decided we could save the night by leaving early, and going to dinner somewhere, with the hopes of having a hott waiter to hit on. All said and done, it was fun cause we made light of it all with the laughs and giggles. I decided I'm so lucky to have such awesomes friends that think, and act so much like me.
